An arthouse distributor that happens to make adult films
Velvet Hours started in 2019 with four directors, a two-camera setup in a converted print works in Bermondsey, and one rule: we would only show what we made ourselves, so that we could answer for every frame of it. Seven years later there are fifteen directors, three hundred and forty titles and no advertising department, because there is no advertising. Members pay us; nobody else does. That is the whole arrangement, and it is why the consent policy has never had to bend.
What we are for
To prove that adult film can be produced under the same conditions as any other film — verified cast, written consent, an intimacy coordinator, a flat day rate paid on time — and still be beautiful, and still be a business. Craft and conduct are the same problem here.
What we will not do
No advertising. No data sold, shared or brokered. No auto-billing trial. No retention maze when someone leaves. No content licensed in from a source we cannot audit. No title kept online after a performer asks for it to come down.
Our Values
Produced, not aggregated
Every title is ours. We license nothing in, so there is no chain of custody we cannot walk back to a signed release and a named reviewer.
Consent as a production line item
Budgeted, staffed and scheduled like camera and sound. An intimacy coordinator is on every set for the full day and is paid by the house, not by the director.
Paid properly, paid on time
Flat day rates agreed before the shoot and paid within 14 days, plus residuals on the top ten. No revenue-share dependency, no unpaid reshoots.
Discretion by design
A neutral card descriptor, a neutral email subject line, no trackers and no mailing list. Privacy here is an engineering decision, not a promise in a policy.
